Welcome to The Birthing Trail, an independent business offering lactation consultations, childbirth education classes and doula services in Vermont owned and operated by Kristin Martins, IBCLC, SBD, CBE. We are here to support you on your way, no matter the trail that you choose. We offer lactation support, childbirth education and doula services and bereavement doula services in the central Vermont area and Chittenden County; attending births at UVM Medical Center, Copley Hospital, Central Vermont Medical Center, and Gifford Hospital. We are a safe and welcome place for ALL individuals and families.
Birth is a normal, natural, process that can look different from one birth to the next. The trail each person takes is different and unique. I strongly believe in supporting the birthing person as they navigate their way through this time in their life. The choices that are made for one person, may not be the same choices another makes, and that’s okay. Here at The Birthing Trail we support ALL decisions. Whether you are looking for support to help you prepare for labor, birth, and the arrival of a new baby or looking for support during the labor and birth, we are here for you as you make your way along the birthing trail.
Kristin Martins attended The University of Vermont where she earned her BA in Chemistry. It was once she had her first child that she learned more about birth support and took her birth doula training in 2013. She has been offering birth services in Vermont since 2014. It was then in 2017 that she worked through Birth Arts International to add on childbirth education services. In 2019, Kristin became a certified birth and bereavement doula through Stillbirthday. In 2021 she trained with Birthing Advocacy Doula Trainings for her postpartum doula training. In 2023, she became credentialed as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, an IBCLC. In her free time, she enjoys being outside, snowboarding, learning more about gardening, and spending time with her family.
