Birth Doula Services

Doula, birth, Vermont doula, childbirth, childbirth education

“Two years ago you helped bring this baby boy into the world. You’re soothing voice and hand gently stroking my forehead throughout and between contractions is still vividly in my memory as I reflect on my near perfect labor. Thank you Kristin. We can not believe it’s been two years already!”

What is a birth doula?

A doula is a non-medical professional support person that has gone through training and will be there to assist the birthing person during labor and birth. Doulas provide physical support and assist with comfort measures for the all types of births, such as position changes, massage, counter pressure, breathing, positioning, getting water, and holding cool compresses. A doula also provides emotional support leading up to the birth, during the labor and birth, and following up afterwards. The doula is not there to give medical advice, perform medical tasks, tell the family what decisions to make, speak on the birthing person’s behalf or take the place of the birthing person’s partner/family. As a doula, I am there to support you in your decisions, whatever they may be.
